(Danville, Va.) — A Sunday morning fire sent six families fleeing into the night but there were no injuries.
Firefighters were called to Southwyck Hills Apartments on North Hills Court just before 6 a.m. and brought five fire engines to the scene. The fire started in the top floor of a three-story apartment building. Six apartments received damage and one received heavy fire damage. No one was trapped inside, despite initial reports to the Danville Fire Department. Three dozen fire crew members from five stations responded.
Three families are being assisted by Red Cross with temporary housing. The fire’s cause is under investigation.
