(Danville, Va.) – The fire that gutted a large home at the corner of North Main Street and Clement Avenue started in the kitchen in some unattended cooking.

The early morning fire sent the family of ten fleeing into the night. No one was injured but the fire destroyed the home at 1707 North Main.

Four engines and a ladder truck spent the night battling the flames and dousing hot spots. The fire also damaged a neighbor’s home.

Units were still on the scene late Tuesday morning.
