(Danville, Va.) — Gerald A. Gibson announced plans Friday to seek a 6th term as clerk of Danville Circuit Court.
Gibson has held the office for almost forty years and has overseen the transition from pen and paper to a state-of-the art operation which oversees public safety, court services, the recording of deeds, probate judge, custodian of court cases, public services, preservation of historic records and keeper of election ballots.
“When I began, most of our work was done with pen and paper. Now, we have embraced cutting-edge technology that has made information more accessible than ever,” Gibson says. “That’s also allowed our office to take our priority of customer service to entirely new levels.”
Gibson has been an active volunteer in the Danville community. He has served as President of the Board at Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center since 2001. He has been a board member since 1974. Gibson is a past President of the Dan River Sertoma Club and the Arc of the Southside (the Hatcher Center). Gibson is also a Past Master of the Roman Eagle Masonic Lodge, a member of the Poquoson Tribe of the Red Men, and a Life Member of the Elks Lodge.
