HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. – – Virginia State Police have identified the bodies of a man and a woman found in Halifax County over the weekend. Both had been murdered.

21-year-old Ntombo Joel Bianda of Alexandria, Virginia, and 19-year-old Ayanna Munne Maertens Griffin of Germantown, Maryland, were found dead just before 3 a.m. Saturday. Both bodies were discovered lying on the ground next to a 2009 Nissan Maxima in the median of Route 58 near Melon Road in the Turbeville community of Halifax County.

Police initially responded to a report of a single-vehicle accident on the highway but say their deaths were not the result of the car running off the highway and getting stuck in the median. A news release does not say how they died.

State police would like to talk to anyone who may have seen the silver Nissan Maxima with Virginia license plates anywhere between South Boston and Danville between the hours of 11 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday. They would also like to speak with anyone who may have noticed the car on this stretch of Route 58/Philpott Road between 2:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. Saturday.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Virginia State Police at 434-352-7128.
